University of Southern California |
| Los Angeles, CA |
Fall 2007 |
Graduate Teaching Assistant for
Engr 499, a special topics course for
freshmen engineering students. Was part of a collaborative effort to rewrite
the curriculum of the Engr 101 course as a special topics course to use
robotics as a medium for teaching independent problem-solving skills. Was
responsible for developing the lab curriculum, instruction, and grading.
| Consultant |
Microsoft Robotics |
| Redmond, WA |
July 2006-June 2007 |
Modified accompanying exercises for
The Robotics Primer Workbook
described below in order to be compatible with
Microsoft Robotics
Studio.
| Consultant |
iRobot |
| Boston, MA |
July 2006-March 2007 |
Writing a workbook to go along with the textbook,
The Robotics Primer
by Maja Mataric. The handbook will cover basic robotics techniques using
the
iRobot Roomba. Also developing open-source utilities to accompany
the handbook.
| Summer Intern and Consultant |
Evolution Robotics |
| Pasadena, CA |
Summer 2004, 2005-Present |
Helped prepare software for release by finding and fixing software bugs.
Adapted Evolution software to work for the
Pioneer robot, improving
obstacle avoidance for a robot using infrared sensors, implemented
a Kalman Filter for a new sensor for greater accuracy, and writing a
driver for speech recognition software. Continuing year-round as a consultant.
| Graduate Research Assistant |
Interaction Lab |
| University of Southern California |
Aug 2003-Present |
Research assistant in the interaction lab under the direction of Prof.
Maja Mataric. Current research interests include socially assistive
robotics as applies to human-robot interaction and children with autism
spectrum disorder (ASD).
| Project Leader |
Robot Research Group |
| University of Rochester |
Dec 2001-Sep 2002 |
Overall leader of the team. Work entailed coordinating the three groups
and integrating their code. Also dealt with budget management and
coordination of the group's travel to the 2002 AAAI conference in
Edmonton Alberta. Oversaw the obtainment of a REU (Research Experiences
for Undergraduates) from the NSF (National Science Foundation).
| Team Leader |
Robot Research Group |
| University of Rochester |
Aug 2001-Sep 2002 |
Led a 3-person group to investigate a speech-recognition and conversation
system for the Robot Research Group for 2001 and 2002.
| Workshop Coordinator |
Computer Science Department |
| University of Rochester |
Aug 2001-May 2003 |
Co-leader of the workshop program, assisting in planning of the courses
CSC-171 (Introduction to Programming) and CSC-172 (Data Structures) along
with designing a parallel curriculum for the workshops.
| Summer Intern |
Laboratory for the Engineering of Man-Made Systems (LEMS) |
| Brown University |
Summer 2001 |
Internship in computer vision
under the direction of Benjamin Kimia. Full time work involving research,
feasibility study, planning and programming of a preliminary system for
signature verification.
| Workshop Leader |
Computer Science Department |
| University of Rochester |
Sep 2000-Dec 2002 |
Duties include maintaining proficiency in current theories related to peer
education through a course ``Seminar in Group Leadership''. Also,
extensive grading and instruction of students through
three-hour sessions where the problem at hand is solved not by the workshop
leader, but by the students working together as a team.
| Summer Intern |
Sleep and Chronobiology Laboratory |
| Brown University |
Summer 2000 |
Completed internship in the laboratory of Mary Carskadon Ph.D. Worked as
Polysomnography (PSG) technician, monitoring research participants (9-18
years old) and maintaining lab.
